| Dear Advertiser, |
| Google works behind the scenes to block countless threats before they reach your account, but the strongest defense starts with you. |
| Google is transitioning to a more secure, password-free future. Set up a Google passkey today to keep your account secure and avoid any disruptions to your Google Ads account. Starting August 19, a Google passkey will be required for performing certain sensitive actions in your account. |
| Note: Passkeys can take up to 7 days to become operational. To account for this, we recommend starting this process as soon as possible to avoid any disruption to your campaigns. |
| What is a passkey? |
| Passkeys are a more secure and convenient alternative to passwords. Passkeys remove the need to remember passwords, and allow you to verify your identity using your device’s existing security (such as your fingerprint, face scan, or screen lock PIN). Unlike passwords, passkeys can’t be shared, copied, written down, or accidentally given to someone else, making them more secure. |
| What actions will require a passkey? |
| A passkey will be required for sensitive actions within your Google Ads account such as adding additional users and linking accounts. Starting August 19 you will no longer be able to complete these actions without a Google passkey. This does not impact how you sign into your account. |
